If you live in America, you’ve probably seen painted hides before. The Plains Native Americans have painted hides for centuries and their art has impacted America on a national scale. So, if you find yourself liking these works of art, you might wonder where to hang them. Here are some ideas:
Your Living Room – If you seek a more rustic feel to your living room, you may wish to hang a painted hide here. You can put it over your TV or above your couch. You’d put up canvas painting or print so, how different is this, really?
Game Room – Billiards, poker and darts are great games to play with friends and, usually, men like to gather to play such games. Men also, typically, like to hunt. So, what better way to accent a game room than with a hide painting? It offers the notion of hunting while also being a bit less harsh than an elk head or taxidermied fox.
Any Sort of Lodge or Cabin – These already have the rustic feel from hunting and the forest within them. So, if you happen to have a cabin in the woods or a fishing lodge, a hide painting can really accent the room and give it a special feel of its own!
Really, any native american art or jewelry product could offer this sort of feel to your home or personal look. So, keep looking through Kachina House for more ideas!
Hi,
How do you hang a Native American hide painting so as not to damage or devalue it and to preserve it in the best way possible? Thanks
You can hang a hide painting a few different ways. In the shop we use small thumbtacks and place them on the edge of the hide. You can also purchase a rug hugger if it has an edge that can hang evenly. Hard to say without seeing the piece. Of course, keep it out of the sun…..
